Opening ASI a great success

Director of SDG Charter Netherlands Ms Maresa Oosterman and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Jacqueline Broerse officially opened the Amsterdam Sustainability Institute by signing the SDG Charter.

The Amsterdam Sustainability Institute (ASI) organized a successful kick-off event on Thursday 16 May at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The programme included the following:

  • Official opening ASI by the Director of SDG Charter Netherlands Maresa Oosterman and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Jacqueline Broerse.
  • Keynote speech by Prof. Joyeeta Gupta (University of Amsterdam): ‘Healthy Planet, Healthy People: What can cross-disciplinary research contribute to achieving the SDGs?’
  • ASI Director Prof. Philipp Pattberg in dialogue with ASI researchers about their plans to foster excellence and generate impact in terms of sustainability.
  • Sustainability Impact Market (Green Office VU, Zuiderlicht, Platform 02025, Nudge, Open Research Amsterdam, Sense of Urgency).
  • Pop-up exposition about the science-art interface by students from the Rietveld Academy.
